Ex-Chelsea defender, Ashley Cole reacts to his new coaching job

Chelsea hero, Ashley Cole, has expressed happiness after been appointed as the new assistant manager of England’s U21 team.

Cole described his new coaching job as a special feeling, adding that he can’t wait to get started.

DAILY POST had earlier reported that Cole will work alongside former Everton midfielder, Lee Carsley, who is now the manager of England’s U21 side.

“I’m really happy to get this opportunity to support Lee and work with the best youngsters in the country,” Cole was quoted by Chelsea’s official website as saying.

“I loved playing for the national team and to now get the chance to work as an England coach is a special feeling. St. George’s Park is an amazing place and I can’t wait to get started.”

Cole won 107 senior caps for England during his playing days.

His appointment will see him take up his first major coaching job.

The 40-year-old retired from playing football in August 2019.
