Why Man United omitted Mason Greenwood from Champions League squad

Manchester United did not add Mason Greenwood to their squad for the group stages of this season’s Champions League.

However, the young prolific player will still play in the competition this season despite not being on the list.

Manchester United announced their 25-man squad with names such as Greenwood’s missing and several fans are wondering why the England star was absent from the list.

However, Manchester Evening News explains that the club does not need to register him.

According to UEFA rules, any player under the age of 21 that qualifies as “homegrown” does not need to be registered as part of the maximum 25-man squad for the tournament and can instead be included on the B list.

This means that while they are not listed on the official UEFA website, such players are still eligible to play in the tournament.
