EPL: You should be ashamed – Alex Ferguson slams Arsenal fans over Wenger

Former Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson has slammed Arsenal fans over their attitude towards ex-manager Arsene Wenger.

Ferguson said Arsenal supporters ‘should be ashamed’ of themselves for hounding out Wenger.

The legendary Frenchman left Arsenal in 2018 after the supporters publicly showed that he was no longer wanted as the club’s manager.

Wenger, 72, wanted to see out the remainder of his contract with the Gunners but pressure from the fans led to the Frenchman walking away a season early.

While a large section of Gunners supporters protested against Wenger’s reign outside of the Emirates Stadium, others brought ‘Wenger out’ banners into the stadium.

Ferguson, in the new film, ‘Arsene Wenger: Invincible’ according to Metro UK, hit out at the supporters for their treatment of Wenger.

The former Manchester United boss recalled that Wenger won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cup trophies during his time at the club.

“He kept them in Europe every year and yet he was criticised. The supporters should be ashamed,” Ferguson said in the new film.

“Arsene and myself are dinosaurs, but we didn’t do so badly.

“I won 13 leagues but I was never near going through a season undefeated. The achievement stands above everything else, and it was Arsene’s.”
