READ: Numbers 20:9-12

  1. And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him.
  2. And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?
  3. And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.
  4. And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 120-123, 1 Corinthians 6:1-20

MESSAGE:

Sometime ago, I locked myself up with my sons for 12 hours without food or water just to lay emphasis on some facts of life, one of which is that they should never give in to hatred or anger. Why? Hatred clouds ones mind and if not dealt with, it gingers a fellow to take wrong decisions that leads to regrettable mistakes. Anger, on the other hand, poses a fellow as foolish before others (Ecclesiastes 7:9).

Mohammed Alli was one of my heroes in the sport of boxing. On close study of his tactics, I discovered that one factor responsible for his frequent victories was that he would annoy his opponents before the fight and by the time the fight begins, they would make mistakes he would capitalise on to eventually win.

Many teenagers are operating below God’s expectation for their lives because they give room for anger. That anger didn’t start suddenly but grew gradually from throwing little tantrums and showing acts of rebellion which the parents must have excused, ignored or overlooked. Anger is destructive. Whether yours was acquired or inherited from a relative, it’s time to pray it out of your life.

PRAYER POINT:

Holy Spirit, please give me the grace to develop self-control. Uproot every seed of anger in me.

HYMN: All To Jesus I Surrender

  1. All to Jesus I surrender,
    All to Him I freely give;
    I will ever love and trust Him,
    In His presence daily live

CHORUS
I surrender all, I surrender all;
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.

  1. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Humbly at His feet I bow;
    Worldly pleasures all forsaken,
    Take me, Jesus, take me now.
  2. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Lord, I give myself to Thee;
    Fill me with Thy love and power,
    Let Thy blessing fall on me.
  3. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Now I feel the sacred flame;
    O the joy of full salvation!
    Glory, glory to His name!
