Chelsea announce transfer deal for Van Ginkel

Chelsea have announced that Marco van Ginkel has joined PSV Eindhoven.

The Champions League winners disclosed this in a statement via their website on Friday.

Van Ginkel’s contract with Chelsea expires this summer.

The statement read in part, “Marco van Ginkel has signed for PSV Eindhoven after leaving Chelsea at the end of the season.

“The Dutch midfielder’s Blues contract expired this summer and he has agreed a deal with PSV, where he has become a popular figure after winning two Eredivisie titles on loan, in 2016 and 2018, the second of those as club captain.”

Van Ginkel joined Chelsea from Vitesse Arnhem in 2013.

The midfielder made four appearances for Chelsea in his first season.

He suffered an initial serious injury in a League Cup win at Swindon Town.

The 28-year-old returned to be named among the substitutes for both legs of our Champions League semi-final against Atletico Madrid.

He had spent time at AC Milan and Stoke City, before his first loan spell with PSV in January 2016.
