Man Utd vs Leeds: Solskjaer explains delay in Varane’s transfer

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has said Raphael Varane will not be able to make his debut this weekend against Leeds United because his move from Real Madrid is not yet complete.

United confirmed they had agreed on a £34 million deal for the defender on July 27.

However, 17 days later, the Red Devils are yet to officially announce his arrival.

Varane is in Manchester after isolation and according to Solskjaer, he has not trained with his new teammates.

United host Leeds United on Saturday to start their Premier League campaign. The deadline to register new players for the opening round of fixtures passed at 12pm on Friday.

“He has not trained with us. Things happen and things take time and unfortunately, the isolation has delayed these things. It’s not 100% done and I can say he probably won’t be [available against Leeds] because he has not trained with us.

“It always happens that there are little things. The big hold up was the isolation and quarantine. He has been in Manchester now and hopefully, it’ll be done soon,” Solskjaer told a news conference on Friday.
