Euro 2020: Denmark doctor reveals Christian Eriksen was gone after suffering cardiac arrest

Denmark team doctor, Morten Boesen, has revealed that midfielder, Christian Eriksen, suffered a cardiac arrest and ‘was gone’ before he was resuscitated on the pitch.

Eriksen had collapsed on the pitch during Denmark’s Euro 2020 opener against Finland on Saturday.

The Inter Milan playmaker was resuscitated on the pitch, with players and fans watching on in distress.

The former Tottenham Hotspur star was conscious when he was stretchered off before they resumed their match, but Denmark eventually lost 1-0 to Finland.

Meanwhile, Danish FA on Sunday morning provided the latest update on Eriksen.

Speaking on the development, Boesen said at a press conference on Sunday, “We don’t have an explanation for what happened.

“I didn’t see it live, I saw it on the screen after it happened.

“It was a cardiac arrest. He was gone and we did cardiac resuscitation.

“How close were we? I don’t know. We got him back after one defib. That’s quite fast.

“The details, I am not a cardiologist, so I will leave to the experts.”
