TOPIC: Mercy, Not Strength [Open Heaven for Teens 26 November 2021]

MEMORISE: Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation. Exodus 15:13

READ: Romans 9:15-16

  1. For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
  2. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ezekiel 36-37, 1 Peter 3:1-22

MESSAGE:

When I hear some people share testimonies, I wonder if the testimony is to tell their skills or to glorify God. For instance, in a case of a possible accident, a driver may manoeuvre the car steering to avoid colliding with an oncoming vehicle but in the actual sense, its God that averted the accident. There are many skilful drivers in the grave.God in His infinite mercy, gives us victory over sicknesses, enemies and problems. Some people use pharmaceutical drugs to treat a disease, yet, the problem persists. If you used the same drug and got cured, it is only by the mercy of God. A child who underwent surgery and came out alive was only shown divine mercy. Many doctors abroad still perform operations and lose their patients. That is why I keep saying the surest help you can receive is from above not abroad.

So, what have you achieved in life that you think is by your strength? 1 Samuel 2:9 b says for by strength shall no man prevail. Never attribute your success in life to your abilities because some others have greater abilities but achieved nothing. Also, when next you want to share your testimony, do it in humility and accord the glory to God.

ACTION POINT:
Approach the word of God with humility, sincerity, faith and a readiness to obey.

HYMN 22: Let Us With A Gladsome Mind

  1. Let us with a gladsome mind
    Praise the Lord for He is kind;
    For His mercies shall endure
    Ever faithful, ever sure.
  2. Let us sound His name abroad,
    For of gods He is the God;
    For His mercies shall endure
    Ever faithful, ever sure.
  3. He, with all-commanding might,
    Filled the new-made world with light;
    For His mercies shall endure
    Ever faithful, ever sure.
  4. All things living He doth feed,
    His full hand supplies their need;
    For His mercies shall endure
    Ever faithful, ever sure.
  5. He His chosen race did bless
    In the wasteful wilderness;
    For His mercies shall endure
    Ever faithful, ever sure.
  6. He hath with a piteous eye
    Looked upon our misery;
    For His mercies shall endure
    Ever faithful, ever sure.
  7. Let us with a gladsome mind
    Praise the Lord for He is kind.
    For His mercies shall endure
    Ever faithful, ever sure.
