CONMEBOL confirms new venue for Copa America 2021

South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) has announced that the 2021 Copa America will be played in Brazil after original hosts Colombia and Argentina had to pull out of holding the tournament.

CONMEBOL made the announcement on Monday, just thirteen days before the tournament is set to begin.

Colombia and Argentina had to pull out due to political unrest and the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2021 Copa America will begin on June 13 and end on July 11.

Meanwhile, Brazil is one of the countries in the world worst affected by the coronavirus pandemic, with the second-highest death toll of over 460,000 so far and more than 16.5 million cases.

Brazil won the Copa America in 2019 after beating Peru 3-1 in the final.
