TOPIC: Dealing With Distraction [Open Heaven for Teens 17 December 2021]

MEMORISE: Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Proverbs 4:25

READ: Matthew 15:21-28

  1. Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
  2. And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
  3. But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
  4. But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
  5. Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
  6. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.
  7. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.
  8. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Obadiah 1:1-21 , Revelation 8:1-13

MESSAGE:

A distraction is anything that prevents a fellow from concentrating on something; it diverts your attention from what you should be focusing on. In today’s Bible reading, a mother said to Jesus, Help me, my daughter is seriously vexed of the devil. Although I’m not the direct victim, I cannot rest until my daughter is healed.

Many homes are going through similar problems where a family member is sick and all resources, time and energy are channeled towards his or her treatment and wellbeing. Some fathers have no peace of mind because of a straying son who keeps getting into trouble. Whenever they see a policeman passing by, they wonder if their boy will be apprehended again. If this case describes your family, I bring you good news. God is turning that situation around in Jesus’ name. He will heal that sick family member and give that stubborn boy/girl a changed heart. As a man under the authority of God, I command every spirit of distraction operating in your life or family to go now in the name that’s above every other. You and your loved ones are healed and free from now. I rejoice with you because you will share your testimony with me soon.

ACTION POINT:

Ask God to keep distractions away from you and your family today.

HYMN: God Give Us Christian Homes

  1. God give us Christian homes,
    Homes where the Bible is loved and taught,
    Homes where the Master’s will is sought,
    Homes crowned with beauty Thy love has wrought;
    God give us Christian homes,
    God give us Christian homes!
  2. God give us Christian homes,
    Homes where the father is true and strong,
    Homes that are free from the blight of wrong,
    Homes that are joyous with love and song;
    God give us Christian homes,
    God give us Christian homes!
  3. God give us Christian homes,
    Homes where the mother in queenly quest,
    Strives to show others Thy way is best,
    Homes where the Lord is an honoured guest;
    God give us Christian homes,
    God give us Christian homes!
  4. God give us Christian homes,
    Homes where the children are led to know,
    Christ in His beauty who loves them so,
    Homes where the altar fires burn and glow;
    God give us Christian homes;
    God give us Christian homes!
