Champions League final: Guardiola explains why Man City lost to Chelsea

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has given reasons why they could not beat Chelsea in the Champions League final on Saturday night.

According to him, Thomas Tuchel’s men defended strongly and were quick with their counter attacks.

However, Guardiola is hopeful his side have learnt their lessons and will come back one day to win the trophy.

“It’s an exceptional season we’ve had. It’s an honour to be here.

“In the second half, we were brilliant and brave. But they defended so strongly and were so fast on the counter-attack. We will come back maybe one day again.

On starting without a recognized defensive midfielder and striker, Guardiola added: “I did what was best for the team [on selection].

“He [Kevin de Bruyne] was injured but this happens. In these kind of games, we need everyone. The ambition now is to the rest, and then game by game we will come back and hopefully return to this stage in the future.”
