TOPIC: Be Adventurous [Open Heaven for Teens 20 February 2022]

MEMORISE: Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalms 16:11

READ: Exodus 33:14 (KJV)
14 And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Mark 3:22-35, Numbers 3-4

MESSAGE:

I know that, at your age you are adventurous, but I want you to know that there are different kinds of adventures: good and bad. A good adventure will help one to relax and learn new things, yet remain in Gods will, while a bad one will make a fellow commit sin against God. In the company of fellow believers, you can go to the cinema to watch good movies or play good games, go for a hike or walk, organize a picnic for family and friends et cetera. These kinds of adventure are good, but there is a better kind of adventure, which is going on mission fields.

I find going on mission fields very interesting, so I join missionaries every year to visit new places all over the world – both rural and urban, to preach the gospel of Jesus. Some places don’t have good roads so we trek and interact with people along the way. We also visit places that don’t have good food and water but we joyfully take whatever is given to us, bless it and eat/drink. Jesus also did this; He commissioned us to go into all the nations of the world and preach the gospel to them. Therefore, I encourage you to focus more on exploring this kind of adventure, because it will bring you both physical and eternal reward.

KEY POINT:

Do something extra to affect someone positively this week.

HYMN: Must I Go And Empty Handed

  1. Must I go and empty-handed,
    Thus my dear Redeemer meet?
    Not one day of service give Him,
    Lay no trophy at His feet?

CHORUS
“Must I go and empty-handed?”
Must I meet my Saviour so?
Not one soul with which to greet Him,
Must I empty-handed go?

  1. Not at death I shrink or falter,
    For my Saviour saves me now;
    But to meet Him empty-handed,
    Thought of that now clouds my
    brow.
  2. Oh, the years in sinning wasted,
    Could I but recall them now,
    I would give them to my Saviour,
    To His will I’d gladly bow.
  3. Oh, ye saints, arouse, be earnest,
    Up and work while yet ’tis day;
    Ere the night of death o’er take
    thee,
    Strive for souls while still you may.
