MEMORISE: The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute. Proverbs 12:24

READ: Proverbs 11:24-25

  1. There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.
  2. The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Hebrews 10:1-39 , Ezekiel 4-6

MESSAGE:

In today’s Bible reading, after the prodigal son squandered all his inheritance on frivolous and worldly things, he was deserted by those who flocked around him while he was on a spending spree. He was hungry and none of them offered assistance in any way. He was faced with several options: to fold his hands and starve to death, become a thief or go into fraud. Rather, he took up a menial job. If he had taken to crime, he would never have lived to see his restoration. Many young people excuse their vices on the harsh economic conditions of their host country forgetting that on the last day, they will bear the eternal consequences of their actions. No government will be held responsible for their sins.

Have you lost precious things or your parents are not buoyant financially? Don’t see immoral acts as the way out. Like the prodigal son did, be happy to do a legitimate work or business while you run back to your Heavenly Father to restore you and your family to your place of glory.

KEY POINT:
Poverty or lack is not an excuse to get involved in any illegitimate means of survival.

HYMN: AMAZING GRACE

  1. Amazing grace!
    how sweet the sound!
    That saved a wretch like me;
    I once was lost,
    but now am found,
    was blind, but now I see.
  2. ‘Twas grace that taught
    my heart to fear,
    And grace my fears relieved;
    How precious did that grace appear
    The hour I first believed!
  3. Through many dangers,
    toils and snares
    I have already come;
    ‘Tis grace that brought
    me safe thus far,
    And grace will lead me home.
  4. Yes, when this heart and flesh
    shall fail,
    And mortal life shall cease,
    I shall possess within the veil,
