TOPIC: Don’t Be A Child Of Belial (I) (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Devotional 6 July 2021)
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 51-57
FIRE SCRIPTURE: 1 Samuel 2:12-17
12 Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the LORD.
13 And the priests’ custom with the people was, that, when any man offered sacrifice, the priest’s servant came, while the flesh was in seething, with a fleshhook of three teeth in his hand;
14 And he struck it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the fleshhook brought up the priest took for himself. So they did in Shiloh unto all the Israelites that came thither.
15 Also before they burnt the fat, the priest’s servant came, and said to the man that sacrificed, Give flesh to roast for the priest; for he will not have sodden flesh of thee, but raw.
16 And if any man said unto him, Let them not fail to burn the fat presently, and then take as much as thy soul desireth; then he would answer him, Nay; but thou shalt give it me now: and if not, I will take it by force.
17 Wherefore the sin of the young men was very great before the LORD: for men abhorred the offering of the LORD.

The MESSAGE:
Belial is used biblically to personify evil, as a description of the Antichrist, and once a name for satan. The Scripture does not indicate that Belial is the proper name of a specific demon.

In 1 Samuel 2:12-17, the Bible calls Eli’s sons, “sons of Belial”. Eli’s sons were utterly wicked and given over to reprobate mind! Though they held the priestly office, they were stealing from the sacrifices and threatening God’s people with violence and this caused the people of God to abhor the offering of the LORD. They were aware of Jehovah, of course, but did not truly know Him.
If you do not know God personally, you are like Eli’s sons — worthless before Him. That was because Eli’s sons did not know the Lord. They were children of Belial despite being covenant children. Belial is used in 2 Corinthians 6:15 as another name for satan. In that passage, we are instructed not to be yoked together with unbelievers. We are also reminded in that same passage that righteousness and lawlessness, darkness and light are incomparable with one another (2 Corinthians 6:14-15). You cannot be both a child of the devil and a child of God at the same time. You are either a child of God (believer), or a child of satan (unbeliever). There is no third category.
Beloved, the Bible says that by their fruits we shall know them. Are you a steadfast believer? That is, what you profess to be (a child of God and a kingdom-minded person) is who you truly are indeed. Or are you a double-faced Christian or a hypocrite? God is merciful and is willing to forgive your unrighteousness if you confess your sins to Him and turn away from them. We are in the dispensation of grace and you don’t have to die a sinner. You can stop that sinful habit now; you can tell the devil and the father of all lies that you don’t ever want to serve him or obey him anymore. The Bible says that to those who once lived in darkness light has arisen. Let the light of the gospel of salvation come upon your life and let darkness depart permanently. It is hightime you began a journey of intimacy with God and continue till Christ returns. From being a child of Belial, you will now be called the favoured of the Lord!
PRAYER POINTS:
MORNING
- I reject the life of hypocrisy and double standard, in the name of Jesus.
- I receive the grace to serve the Lord in spirit and in truth, in the name of Jesus.
- Powers that want to turn me to a child of Belial, die by fire, in the name of Jesus.
EVENING
- Spirit of Belial, I am not your candidate, depart from my life now, in the name of Jesus.
- Powers assigned to make me fall, you are liars, die, in the name of Jesus.
- Any strongman assigned to send me to hell, you are a liar, die, in the name of Jesus.
- Let the grace of God that brings salvation turn me to God’s highly beloved child, in the name of Jesus.
