TOPIC: Attitude To Change [Open Heaven for Teens 5 December 2021]

MEMORISE: Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called. 1 Corinthians 7:20

READ: 1 Corinthians 7:17-24

  1. But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches.
  2. Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised.
  3. Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.
  4. Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called.
  5. Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather.
  6. For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord’s freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ’s servant.
  7. Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.
  8. Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Daniel 5-6, 1 John 4:1-21

MESSAGE:

Every child of God must welcome change as this is the only avenue for growth. You shouldn’t expect a different result while doing things the old way. Many people want a new level but want to keep using old strategies: some are slow to accept and adapt to new ways of doing things. If you want to grow in your walk with God, you must be ready to change from your old self to a new you.

Whenever I hear a fellow defend his/her bad attitude, I wonder if the person truly wants to make heaven. Some will say this is who I am, I don’t pretend. See, God loves you and accepts you the way you are but He may never use you in your present state. Rather, He would carry out the work of transformation and prune you of every dead work in order to make you fit for His use. So, if you remain the same way you were many years after accepting Christ as your Lord and Saviour, its either you did not allow the Holy Spirit to work on you or you don’t like change.

KEY POINT

The only constant thing in life is change

HYMN: All To Jesus I Surrender

  1. All to Jesus I surrender,
    All to Him I freely give;
    I will ever love and trust Him,
    In His presence daily live

CHORUS
I surrender all, I surrender all;
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.

  1. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Humbly at His feet I bow;
    Worldly pleasures all forsaken,
    Take me, Jesus, take me now.
  2. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Lord, I give myself to Thee;
    Fill me with Thy love and power,
    Let Thy blessing fall on me.
  3. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Now I feel the sacred flame;
    O the joy of full salvation!
    Glory, glory to His name!
