EPL: Guardiola hints on Man City’s tactics for Chelsea clash at Stamford Bridge

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has said his team will approach their Premier League tie against Chelsea on Saturday afternoon at Stamford Bridge with the way they tackled Southampton last weekend.

Guardiola explained that Man City, who played 0-0 against Southampton, would try to read Chelsea and know what his team has done against Thomas Tuchel’s side recently.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach said this on Friday during his pre-match press conference ahead of Man City’s clash with Chelsea.

Guardiola’s men head to the game after thrashing Wycombe 6-1 in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

“We prepare the game [Chelsea vs Man City] like we prepare Southampton and like before in the previous games,” Guardiola said.

“Try to read what they are and what we have done in recent games against Chelsea under Tuchel. Every game is a new challenge, a new opportunity to learn, improve and do better.

“It’s not a final like in the FA Cup and the Premier League was already done. Of course, the Champions League is massive. We try to learn.

“This is a new competition. It’s one more game. We prepare the game like the strong points we have and see what we can do to be better.

“That is the mindset we have. It will be the same against Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool before the international break.”
