TOPIC: Eating Habits [Open Heaven for Teens 4 December 2021]

MEMORISE: And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite. Proverbs 23:2

READ: Proverbs 23:6-8

  1. Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats:
  2. For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
  3. The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Daniel 3-4, 1 John 3:1-24

MESSAGE:

An area that shows whether a child has good home training is his disposition towards food particularly in public. For instance, any fellow who eats huge chunks or morsels of food lacks food etiquette.

When you visit a family and they ask if you would eat, your answer should be No. Anyone who really wants to entertain you, will offer you a cup of water and refreshments or snacks first before asking questions. When you are offered a meal, endeavour to thank the giver and other adults in the house after the meal.

Note that it is bad to chew loudly when you eat. Always chew with your mouth closed and avoid belching with an open mouth. Also, never talk with your mouth full. If you have to stay on a queue to be served at a social function, avoid rushing even if you’re famished. Some behaviours you don’t consider important may hinder unbelievers from accepting Jesus. Besides, it is important that you act like the royalty you are.

KEY POINT

Let people see Christ even in the way you eat.

HYMN: Let Others See Jesus In You

  1. While passing through this world of sin,
    And others your life shall view,
    Be clean and pure without, within,
    Let others see Jesus in you.

CHORUS
Let others see Jesus in you,
Let others see Jesus in you;
Keep telling the story,
be faithful and true,
Let others see Jesus in you.

  1. Your life’s a book before
    their eyes,
    They’re reading it through
    and through;
    Say, does it point them to the
    skies,
    Do others see Jesus in you?
  2. What joy ’twill be at set of sun,
    In mansions beyond the blue,
    To find some souls that you have won;
    Let others see Jesus in you.
  3. Then live for Christ both
    day and night,
    Be faithful, be brave, and true,
    And lead the lost to life and light;
    Let others see Jesus in you.
