TOPIC: Tremble At His Word [Open Heaven for Teens 30 November 2021]

MEMORISE: For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

READ: Isaiah 66:1-5

  1. Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?
  2. For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.
  3. He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog’s neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine’s blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.
  4. I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.
  5. Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name’s sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ezekiel 43-44, 2 Peter 2:1-22

MESSAGE:

Do you know that Satan fears God more than many Christians do? Even demons tremble at the name of Jesus Christ but unfortunately, many teenagers take for granted God’s word, name and sometimes make jokes out of it. I don’t encourage any form of jesting and comedy in the church because some don’t know how to separate comedy from heresy/blasphemy and the wrath of God will fall on whoever crosses the line.

If you have the fear of God, it will be evident in how you receive His word, instructions or prophecy. There are some so-called Christian teenagers who during a burst of anger, tear their Bible. A particular Christian brother thought his newly converted brothers were becoming fanatics, so, he burnt their Bibles including the ones he bought for them and warned them against attending church services and fellowship. Sometime later, he got into trouble and was imprisoned for several years. How you treat Gods word will determine how far you would go in life. If you tremble at Gods word, you will not find it hard to fear and obey Him.

PRAYER POINT

Father, please forgive me if I have disrespected You by taking Your word for granted at any point in my life.

HYMN: When We Walk With The Lord

  1. When we walk with the Lord
    In the light of His word,
    What a glory He sheds on our way!
    While we do His good will,
    He abides with us still,
    And with all who will trust and obey.

Chorus:
Trust and obey!
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
but to trust and obey.

  1. Not a shadow can rise,
    Not a cloud in the skies,
    But His smile quickly drives it away;
    Not a doubt nor a fear,
    Not a sigh nor a tear,
    Can abide while we trust and obey.
  2. Not a burden we bear,
    Not a sorrow we share,
    But our toil He doth richly repay;
    Not a grief nor a loss,
    Not a frown nor a cross,
    But is blest if we trust and obey.
  3. But we never can prove
    The delights of His love,
    Until all on the altar we lay,
    For the favour He shows,
    For the joy He bestows,
    Are for them who will trust and obey.
  4. Then in fellowship sweet
    We will sit at His feet,
    Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
    What He says we will do,
    Where He sends we will go;
    Never fear, only trust and obey.
