TOPIC: Shun Mediocrity [Open Heaven for Teens 25 November 2021]

MEMORISE: The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts. Haggai 2:9

READ: Romans 12:2

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Peter 2:1-25 , Ezekiel 34-35

MESSAGE:

Mediocrity is the act of having no outstanding feature or quality. A mediocre is someone who would rather maintain the status quo than take the initiative to birth new things. When a teenager refuses to exercise his or her imaginative skill and physical strength, he or she is a mediocre. God desires that you move higher in all spheres of life so you can become all he wants you to be. That is why Romans 12:2a says:

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,”

Conformity is mediocrity and it makes a fellow remain average when he has already been endowed with what it takes to attain great heights. God has created, empowered and destined you for excellence. Don’t remain small. Renew your mind by the word of God so you will be transformed from average to excellence in every aspect of your life.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, help me to live an excellent life.

HYMN: I’m Pressing On The Upward Way

  1. I’m pressing on the upward way,
    New heights I’m gaining every day;
    Still praying as I onward bound,
    “Lord, plant my feet on higher ground”.

CHORUS
Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith on heaven’s table-land;
Where love and joy and light abound,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

  1. My heart has no desire to stay,
    Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
    Though some may dwell where these abound,
    My constant aim is higher ground.
  2. Beyond the mist I fain would rise,
    To rest beneath unclouded skies,
    Above earth’s turmoil peace is found
    By those who dwell on higher ground.
  3. I long to scale the utmost height,
    Though rough the way, and hard the fight,
    My song while climbing shall resound
    Lord lead me on to higher ground.
  4. Lord lead me up the mountain side,
    I dare not climb without my Guide;
    And heaven gained, I’ll gaze around,
    With grateful heart from higher ground.
