TOPIC: Rise Early [Open Heaven for Teens 22 November 2021]

MEMORISE: Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. Psalms 121:4

READ: Mark 1:35

And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ezekiel 27-28, James 4:1-17

MESSAGE:

Waking up early gives you the opportunity to have ample quiet time with God especially to thank Him for sustenance, divine guidance, security and regular provision. You can praise Him in songs or tongues quietly before studying a verse of the Bible for fresh insights. Thereafter, commit your day into His hands. If you want to have quality quiet time void of distractions, you must rise early. This was Jesus’ attitude too: “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” “Mark 1:35”

Many researchers have argued that a person should have at least eight hours of sleep daily but for a child of destiny, you can’t be sleeping almost a quarter of the day and expect to become very great. I trained myself from my youth to sleep for just four hours daily and rise early in the morning to set my day right. You may be saying your body cannot adjust to it but the truth is those who want to be outstanding in life train themselves to pay the price.

REFLECTION:

How many hours do you spend sleeping?

HYMN: I’m Pressing On The Upward Way

  1. I’m pressing on the upward way,
    New heights I’m gaining every day;
    Still praying as I onward bound,
    “Lord, plant my feet on higher ground”.

Chorus:
Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith on heaven’s table-land;
Where love and joy and light abound,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

  1. My heart has no desire to stay,
    Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
    Though some may dwell where these abound,
    My constant aim is higher ground.
  2. Beyond the mist my faint would rise,
    To rest beneath unclouded skies,
    Above earth’s turmoil peace is found
    By those who dwell on higher ground.
  3. I long to scale the utmost height,
    Though rough the way, and hard the fight,
    My song while climbing shall resound
    Lord lead me on to higher ground.
  4. Lord lead me up the mountain side,
    I dare not climb without my Guide;
    And heaven gained, I’ll gaze around,
    With grateful heart from higher ground.
