Euro 2020: Southgate gives injury update on Alexander-Arnold

England manager, Gareth Southgate, has provided the latest injury update on Liverpool right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Alexander-Arnold limped off late on in England’s 1-0 win against Austria on Wednesday evening.

Southgate’s side played their first European championship warm-up match as they beat Austria 1-0 at the Riverside Stadium, thanks to Bukayo Saka’s goal.

With less than two weeks to the championship, Alexander-Arnold was forced to come off, with Chelsea defender, Reece James, watching on after being rested due to the Blues’ Champions League final victory against Chelsea last weekend.

Providing an update on Alexander-Arnold, Southgate told ITV Sport post-match, “We are going to have a little look.

“It is obviously not good to see him having to come off in the way he did, but we will have to assess him over the next 24 hours.

“I think (it’s his) thigh, but the medical team is still assessing it.

“We’ll just have to see, it’s not a good sign to see him walk off in the way that he did, so we’ll know more in the next 24 or 48 hours.

“We don’t know the full extent, so the last thing you want is to see him come off in the way that he did.”
